Sunset Acres Resort is working on a planting design for the first 200 trees which should be arriving on site in the next two weeks. More trees in the planting program will be brought in this fall to further enhance the surrounding area. Work on the base of the boat launch has passed the compaction test and is ready for gravel so that we can bring in the concrete pads. That work should be done in the next two or three weeks. The crew should also be putting down some topsoil in the next couple of weeks to accommodate the tree planting. Getting the final grade of gravel down on Sunset Acres Lane is also on the agenda in the next couple of weeks. Subject to inspection and approval by the provincial authorities, we hope to begin flooding the marina area later in June. To ensure stability of the marina banks, this process will take some time.

We continue to have discussions with the Province and the RM regarding the new subdivision phase of Sunset Acres Resort. Our Engineers have identified a couple of design issues which we are considering that would enhance the overall development. This mainly has to deal with the installation of water, sewer, power and storm water drainage. As such, we are preparing an amendment to our original subdivision application. We need to discuss this with the province and the Rural Municipality, so the plan for our campground and RV area is temporarily on hold. With a new and improved concept design, we will have even more to offer buyers. Sorry to all the people who are waiting on us but we want to provide the best resort we can and it takes time to get in place all the features many of us take for granted.

Sunset Acres Resort has submitted the first subdivision plan for its new RV and cabin style phase to the Province, for review and approval. These recreation style sites will be available for purchase or long term lease. Prices start at $39,900 plus GST for the purchase of RV style lots. Introduction leasing rates for 2017 are being determined. A copy of the full concept plan is provided below.

Discussions are taking place with Engineers in respect to a full water and sewer system. Further discussions are taking place with Sask. Power and Sask. Tel regarding their services.

The planned sites will be up to 5,000 sq. ft. in size and will be designed for placement of permanent cabin, park model or mobile home type structures as well as for RV use. A significant green space is outlined and is intended to serve as a future recreation area. A camping area is also part of the planned design. The original phase of Sunset Acres Resort is nearing completion with the final touches to be done on the marina and the water canal when spring arrives. The survey for the boat launch area is complete and arrangements are also being made for its installation this spring. The spring will also bring the start of our tree planting program. Lake home building sites are available in this phase of the project starting at $74,900 plus GST.

Sunset Acres Resort announces that it has purchased additional land which will become part of the overall resort development. The intention of this newly acquired land is to provide recreation style sites for purchase or long term lease. Introductory prices will start at $39,900 for the purchase of RV style lots. As an introduction special, some sites will be made available to rent on a seasonal basis, between $1,800 and $2,000, for the 2017 season.

Subject to regulatory approval, the new sites will be up 5,000 sq. ft. in size, will have power and septic tanks in place and will be designed for placement of permanent cabin, park model or mobile home type structures as well as for RV use. Potable water supply for the project will become part of the overall Sunset Acres Resort development. Sunset Acres Resort will be releasing a concept plan that will be submitted for provincial approval. This plan includes building lots that back onto a significant green space. A camping area is also part of the planned design. Owners and lease holders in the new phase will also have access to the boat launch and marina area designed as part of the original Sunset Acres Development. This access may be established on a pay for use basis subject to space being available.

While this development is subject to regulatory approval, Sunset is confident that the first phase of the expansion, including a number of camping sites, will be ready for the 2017 season.

Located on the east shore of Last Mountain Lake, a little over an hour northwest of Regina and approximately two hours southeast of Saskatoon, Sunset Acres Resort already offers lakefront, marina and water canal building lots. Sunset Acres Resort has secured additional land which will become part of the overall resort development. The intention is to provide recreation style sites which will be made available for annual and long term leasing or outright purchase. The new sites will be up to 5,000 sq. ft. in size, will have power and septic tanks installed and will also have a gravel pad for parking. Everything is subject to regulatory approval but we are confident the first phase of the expansion can be ready for the next camping season. The added land also allows the opportunity for a potential golf course along the shoreline of the lake. A new access road will connect this part of the project to the original development so owners can access the marina and boat launch.

Work continued off and on, in between the rain days, during the summer. We are getting back to work on the marina so that it, and the boat launch, can be ready for next season. The balance of the lake front lots, the marina lots and the canal lots will also be ready. We will be looking to complete the very north end of the main site where the future pond lots will be located. We are working with another lake development to construct a new sewage lagoon which can be shared. Soil tests should be conducted soon with a plan to start construction next year.
